Brow Lift
Instead of, or sometimes in addition to an upper eyelid surgery, a procedure to elevate the brows can help relieve peripheral vision deficits caused by a combination of droopy lids and droopy brows. Correction of mild to moderate brow ptosis can be achieved through incisions directly above the brows.
After Surgery
Cold compresses are used to help reduce swelling and bruising. Antibiotic ointment is prescribed to apply to the incisions above the eyebrows. Strenuous activity should be limited for about 1 week after surgery. As pain is generally mild and cold compresses and Tylenol are usually all that is needed post-operatively. Warm compresses may be recommended several days after surgery to increase blood flow to the area and promote healing.
Non-aspirin pain relievers are usually all that is necessary post-operatively. Aspirin products, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen, and other blood thinners should be avoided before and after surgery as they may increase the risk of bruising and bleeding. Most patients are able to return to regular activities within several days.
